Showa period, 1950-1970
Description:
A remarkable and unusual large kimono featuring flowers and skunk cabbage, created using a watercolor-looking dye painting technique. As it was created for winter wear, the silk is relatively thick -- the chirimen silk has extremely twisted threads, giving the kimono a special texture. The collar is hiro-eri (unfolded collar). Very good condition, with minor imperfections. 61" from sleeve-end to sleeve-end x 66" height.
