A plain silk boy’s kimono used for the miyamairi Shinto shrine initiation ceremony. Very good condition, with minor imperfections. 32” from sleeve-end to sleeve-end x 35” height. Some kimonos such as this deviate from the standard miyamairi style, but can be identified as such due to the twin front ribbon straps that are used to tie around the grandparent’s neck during the miyamairi ceremony. This example is patterned with stencilled motifs of Heian noble headgear, drum, and kagura bell.
