Item Details
Early Showa period (1926-1940)
A rinzu (figured silk) haori featuring yuzen-painted flying cranes with embroidered and freehand painted highlights and golf foil outlining. There is some fine sumi e shading, especially impressive on the feather motifs found on the lower inner lining. The doura (upper lining) has refined silk-screened artwork that has no repeats. The presence of single mon (family crest) on the top center back, as well as the quality of silk and artistry involved, points to this being a semi-formal luxury jacket worn by a wealthy individual. 51” from sleeve-end to sleeve-end x 39” height.
