A silk kimono featuring stenciled bamboo grass and tatewaku motifs. Hakkake (lower inner lining is of kinsha silk, while the doura (upper inner lining) is a satin silk. 50” from sleeve-end to sleeve-end x 57” height. This kimono was worn seasonally: tatewaku (rising steam) is a spring motif, symbolizing the steam rising from plants at the first spring heat. The artwork is very graphic, with the choice of colors imparting a surreal effect.
