An unusual silk ''ro' (gauze) boy's kimono, featuring a phoenix motif. Also, an inner white 'ro' juban. This kimono may have been intended for a celebration or festival: not many come up for sale, so we are unsure whether it's a rare item, or alternatively, a type of garments that Japanese families do not want to part with. The kimono is quite heavy, as the applied phoenix motif is of a heavy gold foil or plastic. Very good condition, with minor spots of gold defoiling, and a very light red stain. 32" from sleeve-end x sleeve-end x 39" height.
