This silk boy's kimono was likely used for the miyamairi Shinto shrine initiation ceremony. Despite deviating from the typical miyamairi style, it can be identified as such by the twin front ribbon straps used to tie around the grandparent's neck during the ceremony. This particular kimono features stenciled motifs portraying Heian noble headgear, drums, and kagura bells. Its measurements span 32 inches (81 cm) from sleeve-end to sleeve-end and stand at 35 inches (89 cm) in height.
