This distinctive ro (gauze) summer ceremonial child's kimono is a rare find, featuring an unpatterned fabric except for three large family crests positioned on the upper backside. Each of these crests depicts finely painted subjects: Momotaro (Peach Boy), a Heian royal cart, and a phoenix. The sleeve cuffs are "hirosode" style, left unsewn and open. This kimono likely would have been commissioned by a wealthy family. Measures 49 inches (124 cm) from sleeve-end to sleeve-end and stands 36 inches (91 cm) tall.
