This unique kinsha (fine crepe) silk kimono, assumed to be a kurotomesode, showcases Rinpa-influenced scenes of sages and attendants using yuzen-painting, freehand pigment and sumi-e painting, gold outlining, and bokashi shading. The artistry is exceptionally high, indicating the involvement of a top painter of that period. Notably, the susomawashi (lower inner lining) also features this intricate artwork. Adorned with five mon (family crests), the silk's quality in spinning and weaving stands at the highest level. Given the exorbitant cost to create such a masterpiece, it's likely commissioned by a very affluent family. Its measurements span 52 inches (132 cm) from sleeve-end to sleeve-end and stand at 62 inches (157 cm) in height.
